Ballet/Tap classes Backstage Dance Connection

This class combines ballet and tap dance styles. The students will learn dances in both styles to help them prepare for all styles of dances as they grow and get older.

*Ballet teaches the basic ballet skills using methods designed for young imaginative minds and bodies. Students are given the opportunity to move, stretch, and improve self-confidence while being introduced to basic ballet concepts, body alignment, posture, locomotive skills, as well as develop self-expression through creative movement. Even at young ages, the dancers will learn proper ballet terminology such as “plie” and “releve” as well as proper dance positions.

*Tap dance is performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps. The dancers will learn how to rhythmically tap their toes and heels to create musical sounds. Tap dance teaches the dancers how to use the taps on their shoes to create sounds with syncopation and improvisation.
