Our Policies

Have questions about the policies of our Boiling Springs dance studio? We’ve answered some of our frequently asked questions to give you an idea of what you and your child can expect during our dance classes.

How is tuition handled?
our tuition is due at the time of registration to reserve your dancer’s place in class. Tuition payments are due the first class of each month.  Any tuition paid to a dancer’s account can be transferred, but not refunded, if a change is made to the dancer’s schedule. Any student who has an outstanding balance will not be permitted to take class until the account is brought back current. For all returned checks, there will be a $25 fee. If a check is returned, the payment must be made by credit card, money order, or cash to bring the account current. Auto credit card payments are also available (see front desk for form).

If an account is 30 days or more past due, a $25 late fee will be applied to the account and will double for each week that the account remains past due.

What is the policy on refunds and can I withdraw from a class?
Requests for withdrawal from one or more classes must be made by the dancer or parent/guardian on a BDC Withdrawal Form (see front desk). Tuition may or may not be adjusted, and will be decided based on the circumstances. No refunds shall be made for withdrawals not requested in a timely period. The undersigned parent/guardian shall be responsible for payment.
What ages do we teach?
We teach all ages of children and teenagers, and even offer some dance classes for adults in Boiling Springs, Spartanburg, Inman and surrounding areas! Our age groups are as follows:


  • Mommy & Me: 2 and under, with a parent participating
  • Tiny Tots: 3 to 4; ballet & tap; hip-hop; & tumbling
  • Mini: 5 to 6; includes ballet & tap, clogging, tumbling, & hip-hop
  • Junior: 7 to 11; includes clogging, hip-hop, irish, jazz/lyrical, tumbling & tap
  • Senior: 12+; clogging, tap, Irish, jazz/lyrical, tumbling, & hip-hop
What is the minimum enrollment per class?
Minimum enrollment is five students per class. If the minimum enrollment is not met, the class may be canceled or combined with a similar class.
What is the class etiquette?
All students are expected to be on time and properly dressed for class. Students who do not adhere to the dress code will not be permitted to participate in class. All students must be in comfortable dance attire (no blue jeans) and proper dance shoes by October. Please visit our lobby for the latest dance merchandise.
How are absences handled?
We understand that absences will occur throughout the dance season. However, please contact the studio prior to the beginning of your class to report an absence, if possible. NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN FOR MISSED CLASSES.
Can people watch the class?

Observation weeks will be announced throughout the season, so that parents/visitors may observe their child’s progress. Parents/visitors will be allowed to watch the last 15 minutes of the class. Observation weeks will be posted in the lobby and on our website. Please make every effort to attend these observation weeks and support your dancer. No visitors are permitted in our dance classrooms at any other time, unless the instructor gives special permission prior to class.

Where can I find the latest updates and news from BDC?
Important studio updates and announcements will be posted in the lobby, website or sent via email. It is imperative that all families have a current email on file to receive updates, as this will be our main source of communication. You can also “like” us on Facebook for all of the latest updates and news!
What are your holiday business hours?
BDC observes and will be closed for certain holidays throughout the dance season: Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Spring Break. Please be sure to check our website or handouts for holiday closing dates.
What is your inclement weather policy?
Backstage Dance Connection follows the school closings of District 2, or you can call the studio for cancellation information. Please do not feel obligated to travel to class if you are uncomfortable with the weather conditions.
Are there costumes?
Each dance class will receive a costume for an additional charge (announced at a later date) to wear for the BDC recital, performances and/or competitions. Once you receive your costume, please take special care of it. If another costume should need to be ordered, you will be responsible for any additional replacement charges.
Do I need to sign a waiver or release of claims?
